Located in Himachal Pradesh, Dharamshala is a popular tourist destination known for its beautiful monasteries, temples, historical forts, lakes, waterfalls and museums.

The hillside town is a popular center for the study of Buddhism and its related tantras, sutras and texts.

The place is home to the Dalai Lama and a large population of Tibetans.

How to reach Dharamshala?

Gaggal Airport is 13 kilometers from Dharamshala. You can hire a taxi at the airport to reach your destination.

Pathankot is the nearest railway junction which is 85 kilometers from Dharamshala. You can take a bus or a taxi from here to reach the site.

You can also take a bus from Delhiwhich is 520 kilometers away from Dharamshala.

Triund Hill, one of the most popular tourist spots in Dharamshala, is surrounded by green valleys on one side and the stunning Dhauladhar range on the other.

It is an ideal place to enjoy Hike.

You must also visit St. John in the Wilderness Church which has Belgian stained glass windows.

Gyuto Monastery, Dal Lake, Tsuglag Khang and Bhagsu Waterfall are also must-sees.

paragliding is a popular adventure sport in Dharamshala as you will witness the beautiful green scenery.

You can start the trekking from Bhagsu Nag and go through steep mountains, curves and dense forests to reach Triund peak.

You can also camp at Kareri Lake.

Since it has been a Tibetan settlement since 1959, Tibetan foods such as thukpas and momos are a must.

If you want to escape the scorching summer heat, visit Dharamshala during the summer months to get some relaxation and enjoy the nice weather.

The summer temperature here ranges from 22 degrees Celsius to 35 degrees Celsius.

It’s the perfect time to hike and see the flowers in bloom.

The Buddhist Losar festival also takes place in February or March.
