Singapore is open, and with Singapore Airlines adding more flights to Changi, the Lion City is an ideal choice whether it’s for a week-long getaway or just a short weekend getaway. By Rashima Nagpal
With Singapore easing all border measures and Singapore Airlines increasing its frequency of flights from India, the city-state is poised to welcome even more Indian travelers to its shores. Singapore has long been the most popular tourist destination in Southeast Asia for Indians. From historical tours to modern wonders and fun activities, it has something for every age group, making it a favorite with families. Even the most informed traveler is pleasantly surprised by the multitude of new, unfamiliar and unexpected experiences lurking in plain sight.

Increased accessibility
Another reason why so many Indians choose Singapore for their holidays is the easy access. Singapore Airlines operates 80 weekly flights from eight cities across India: Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Kochi and Hyderabad. The airline recently returned the iconic Airbus A380 – the world’s largest passenger jet – to its routes to Mumbai and Delhi.
To make its shores even more accessible, Singapore has no group size limit, so your big family vacation won’t have to leave anyone out. While masks are required indoors, you can remove your masks when outdoors and exploring any of Singapore’s lush gardens or attractions. The best part? No medical tests are required for visitors aged 12 and over as long as you are fully vaccinated.

New attractions
For discerning travelers landing in Singapore, Changi Airport is a destination in itself, and as of June 2022, passenger traffic through the airport has returned to 50 percent of pre-COVID levels. Explore the myriad gardens, contemplate the otherworldly art installations, or enjoy a delicious meal during your transit. At its heart is Jewel Changi Airport, which offers attractions ranging from Singapore’s largest hedge maze to the world’s tallest indoor waterfall, interactive sculptures, and world-class shopping and dining.

In the meantime, the country has been busy adding to its already impressive roster of attractions with cool new additions like Oasia Resort Sentosa and SkyHelix Sentosa. Opening in December 2021, SkyHelix is the first rotating gondola and bar of its kind, offering panoramic views of Sentosa and the Greater Southern Waterfront. On the other hand, Oasia Resort Sentosa focuses on a wellness-oriented lifestyle, offering guests spa treatments along with healthy eating, fitness programs, body-mind practices, guided meditation, and immersion in nature.
