Domestic help who struck at around 100 houses arrested, used to travel by air for burglaries

Ghaziabad: Ghaziabad police have managed to arrest a woman accused of stealing around 100 houses in different cities across the country. The accused was identified Poonam Shah a.k.a. Kajal, a resident of Bhagalpur district in Bihar.

The woman worked in various places as a domestic help and committed theft in her employer’s houses. She even built a house in the national capital, Delhi, after allegedly using the proceeds of the crime.

Police claimed they attacked at least 100 homes in different cities including Delhi, Jodhpur, Kolkata and Ghaziabad. The woman used to steal gold jewelry from her employers. According to a report by PTI, the burglar faces at least 26 criminal cases in the National Capital Region districts alone.

Kajal was arrested based on CCTV footage from the Amrapali village community. A complaint was filed by a Vipul Goel whose home gold jewelry worth Rs 10 lakh was allegedly stolen by his domestic help Kajal.

Police also found Rs 3 lakh worth of stolen gold jewelery belonging to defendant Kajal, who is in her late 30s, said the Indirapuram Circle officer Abhay Mishra.
