To improve the country’s road infrastructure, the government will build 26 green highways over the next three years, Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari told parliament on Wednesday. He also stated that India’s road network will be as good as that of the US by 2024. In his response to the supplement, the minister said the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) was rated AAA and had no shortage of funds.
He also stated that the government will build 26 green highways over the next three years. These will help people to travel from Delhi to different places in the country in just two hours. NHAI can build five lakh kilometers of roads in a year.
According to the minister, once the projects are completed, people will be able to travel from Delhi to different places in just two hours. You can also travel to Amritsar in four hours, Delhi to Katra in six hours, Delhi to Mumbai in 12 hours and Delhi to Bengaluru in two hours. It used to take 4.5 hours to travel from Meerut to Delhi, but now people come in 40 minutes, he claimed.
Gadkari had previously claimed that India’s road infrastructure would be similar to that of the US under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership ahead of the 2024 general election. He also stated that the government has no shortage of funds.

Gadkari previously said when introducing the Green Highway Policy in 2015 that it would help make the country pollution-free. It would also help curb the number of traffic accidents in the country. He explained that the aim of the policy is to provide job opportunities for local communities and encourage greening of highway corridors. Politicians will find a balance between highway expansion and environmental protection.
The 594-km Ganga Expressway, a major government project, received the Environmental Impact Assessment last month. With the approval, construction of the project is expected to begin soon. In the meantime, 94% of the property for the six-lane, access-controlled greenfield project has been acquired and all official approvals have been received.
