ORLANDO, Fla.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Travel + Leisure Co. (NYSE:TNL), the global leader in member and leisure travel, recently released its 2021-2022 Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) report. The report details progress made over the past year on key corporate social responsibility priorities and commitments, and highlights the company’s strategy to make a positive impact on the world through responsible tourism.
As a leader in the global leisure travel industry, Travel + Leisure Co. has continued to refine its approach to proactively promoting environmental, social and governance standards across its business. In its 2021-2022 ESG Report, the company shares its progress towards environmental and social goals and corporate governance, which have been activated through Travel + Leisure Co.’s Full Circle ESG program. Some areas of focus are:
- Through its WYND Green certification program, the company’s vacation property business continues to implement efficiency projects and investigate reusable energy use at its resorts. In 2021, an agreement was reached for an outside community solar program in Portland, Oregon, and two resorts were prepared for the installation of solar panels.
- Progress toward the company’s 2025 greenhouse gas emissions reduction target (Scope 1 and Scope 2) drives an ongoing commitment to support an urgent transition to a low-carbon economy.
- The company actively promotes inclusion and diversity among its employees, customers and suppliers. A growing diverse body of leaders has reinforced the company’s leadership team, with robust internal development programs and ongoing recruitment efforts driving expanded representation. Launched in May 2021, the Traveler’s Pledge is the company’s code of conduct for its owners, members and guests, enabling resort teams to deliver great vacation experiences in a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment.
- Last summer, the company created the Travel + Leisure Charitable Foundation and created the Travel + Leisure Eatonville Scholarship Program in partnership with the Orange County, Florida school board. Corporate, in-kind, and employee donations in the workplace provided more than $1.1 million donated to communities in 2021.
“As we pass the two-year mark of the global COVID-19 pandemic, I’m pleased to see the resurgence of travel and vacations as priorities. With the growth of tourism comes the need to act responsibly,” said Michael D. Brown, President and CEO of Travel + Leisure Co. “We pride ourselves on our ability to positively impact the travel industry through responsible tourism, while promoting our Protecting the environment, social and governance strategy.”
The company assessed the most relevant ESG issues for its business using a four-phase approach to identify common themes across internal resources, industry and peers, global reporting frameworks such as GRI, SASB and TCFD, and multiple ESG rating and ranking agencies. The ESG team also aligned the company’s priorities with industry-leading associations such as the International Tourism Partnership and the World Travel and Tourism Council.
